Because honestly? What better New Year's resolution to make than add these two stellar reads to your TBR.
read now, thank me later :)

This book just tore my little heart into shreds. Not because it's particularly sad or anything, it's just so alive and feeling and even though we don't always understand why stuff happen they way they do it's ok. The three POV's are written with so much beauty and care, I fell in love with all three girl's voices. I also like in particular how this book wasn't focused on romance, it happens in the story but that's not what the story is truly about.
The vibe of this book is constellations / turtle / full hearts and space / old English mansions / lying awake at night / circus / worn yellowed pages / luminescence / love / family

It's strange, isn't it, how we can push people away because we want to be near them? Isn't that the silliest thing?”

“Earth," Alexa finally said. "It's not that great anyway." And they all smiled sadly. Because, of course, it was everything.”
“Lily?”, she whispered. Lily didn’t move. “Can I tell you something?”
Lilly breathed deeply, clearly asleep. “I think all my life my heart’s
been broken,” Adri whispered, “and I didn’t even notice. And I don’t
even know by what.”

This one is incredible. I'm a big fan of historical fiction and this one didn't disappoint. I love how the book handled the horrible subject of war realistically while still managing to keep hope in the picture. I also like how the author wrote about a side of war not many at all know about. The reason I give four stars is for the confusing ending, I got the gist of it but I was still left a bit confused. Also be advised, this book is mature and I suggest 16+ Will leave your heart aching...
The vibe of this book is journey / brown hair / shoemaker / hardship / pink hat / madman / hope / waves / ship / secrets / soldiers / blind / winter / ice & snow / bell tower / warm inner hope

“Per aspera ad astra, Papa,' I whispered. Through hardship to the stars.”

I really want to read the first one! I'll have to see if it's at my library. I'm not big on historical fiction, though I think sometimes I like to read it. I'm a picky reader. XD

DeleteThank you so much for the sweet comment and it's my pleasure to share books I love ^.^
Ugh, SALT TO THE SEA IS GORGEOUS. I do agree that ending was confusing (like the raft???) but it’s still beautiful and tragic in its own way. You should make more aesthetics, Anna! They’re gorgeous!!! <3
